The rivers and tributaries of the Amazon are literally the lifeline for thousands. The river supplies:

• Transportation

• Irrigation for crops

• Water supply

• Fish for food and as a source of income

The ongoing drought has numerous serious consequences for the communities located along the river. Many of these communities find themselves cut off from the rest of the world, struggling to access essential services.

They cannot obtain basic necessities such as clean water, medical supplies, or even the resources necessary to combat the wildfires that have made the air increasingly difficult to breathe. This situation exacerbates the challenges faced by residents, highlighting the urgent need for assistance and support.

The water wells established by Amazon Vida in collaboration with our dedicated partners serve as the crucial and often sole source of drinkable water for numerous villages during this challenging season of extreme drought.

The demand for new wells has become increasingly urgent, as they would provide local communities with much-needed, easier access to the benefits of healthy drinking water, thereby improving overall health and well-being.

Just as our network of churches did during COVID, they will again provide for physical and spiritual needs, delivering hope and sharing God’s love.

The churches will supply the manpower to deliver the supplies to the villages that are now long distances away from the waters edge.

This is an opportunity to continue to share God’s love to help people and villages that many of you have visited before.
