Over the last decade and a half, I’ve been fortunate enough to hop on a boat and journey down the Amazon river with the purpose of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. So many memories!
Everything from sleeping on a boat in hammocks, to showering off the back of the boat at night, to searching for the red eyes of alligators in the river! But some of the sweetest times have been spending time with the people of Brazil! The Lord has used sports camps, vacation Bible school, water wells, and even the Power Team to advance the gospel.
On my most recent trip I had the privilege of just spending a few hours each day with one specific family. The first day the head of the household gave us a tour of the entire village as well as out into the countryside where his fields for farming were. He told us how they had to clear the land and how they had to watch out for Jaguars in the early days!
We then met his family and got to talk about our lives and the impact that Jesus has had on us. It was so cool to see that we are from such different walks of life, but Jesus is what we had in common! It was also so cool to know that seeds of the gospel in that community would be watered because of pastors that have committed to return and minister to them long after we had left.
We serve a big God that thinks so much of His people that He uses us to share His Gospel. Now that’s awesome!
