Would you spend 10 hours hiking in the woods and another 22 hours on boat to receive Bible teaching?
This is what brother Aristides faces to attend leadership training classes at our seminary. Parintins is a long way from the Sateré-Mawé people but the long difficult journey and his eighty-something years were not going to prevent him from being here at First Baptist Church of Parintins (PIB/PIN).
The activities began on Saturday morning with a moment of welcoming, prayer and introductions among all the students and leaders. The first day ended with a service of celebration and adoration to the Lord.
On this very rainy Sunday, students had individual devotional time and then a community devotion. Then everyone participated in the Holy Supper with local elements. Grape juice has been replaced with acai juice and bread has been replaced with cassava kiss.
Potential leaders were given books and training materials and also a meal. Their classes were conducted by missionary Auliandro Paixão and our guest professor missionary Alexandre Modena.
The training center thanks everyone who helped with offers, donations and prayers for the successful completion of the seminar
For the first time, this year, some of the cost were offset with a missions fair with regional products, donated by the students themselves. All proceeds raised will help cover the expenses for the seminary program and other missionary projects.
