If you are seeing this blog post then you probably live in a household with multiple copies of the Bible at your disposal. How would you feel if they were all taken from you? Do you treasure God’s word enough to even notice?
God’s word gives us many examples of people that delighted in God’s (even the Old Testament) but in today’s world in our western culture there isn’t very much excitement about hearing from God and learning more about him.
Do you think this highly about your Bible?
As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!
I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word.
I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness.
How I delight in your commands! How I love them!
Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver.
I rejoice in your word like one who discovers a great treasure.
(Psalm 119:7,16,40,47,72,162 NLT)
These verses may help us understand some of the delight that a new people group has when they get a copy of God’s word in their native language.
It was a big deal when the Sateré received their first Bible and now 6 years later their excitement is still alive. You can see it in the preparations that they are making to celebrate the anniversary of “Bible Day” on April 20th.
Join us in celebrating the Lord and his work in the life of this church and pray for the safety and strength needed to complete the renovation of their church building in time for “Bible Day.”
