During Covid we sent food bags to a few Sateré villages where we have churches. Near one of these villages there is a large village called Molongotuba.
The Chief of Molongotuba heard that we had sent food bags to a neighboring village and asked why the Baptist Church was not helping feed his village. So, when we received resources, we gave a food bag for every family in Molongotuba.
After this, the chief sent me another message saying that our church would be always welcome at his village!
Last year, Magnel, a seminary student from Molongotuba started a Bible study in the village in a small hut. When the chief found out he was from our church, he told him to meet in a better place that belongs to the village, so they were given access to the village community center. The Bible study has turned into a church that is going strong.
This church plant represents a full circle of our mission statement:
Discipleship of a young Christian,
Leadership Training of this young man that led to a church plant, and a
Community being transformed by a church presence.
