Stories From the Amazon

News & Updates

Dear brothers and sisters,

I come to you today with a heart full of gratitude, awe, and joy. What we experienced in the Amazon this past July was truly a move of God. For one incredible week, our team served riverside and indigenous communities

Life Change - Jobson and Andreize

Andreize started to come to a women’s Bible study that Amazon Vida leads every week in Maranhão. Jobson also came to some men's Bible studies with a couple of mission trip teams (Americans and Brazilians) that we took to Maranhão.

Judy's Testimony

I have come to the conclusion that the Amazon trip was equally a time to share God’s grace and the Gospel as well as a time of growth for me. Maybe I had to be away from everything to learn, this is where I saw God working the most.

Bryan Gibbs' Story

Trip leader Bryan Gibbs reports on how amazing his first post covid trip on the river was:

The time we had in the villages was very sweet but one of the hard things I heard twice was, “when your team didn’t come in 2020, we thought you had forgotten about us”

The Church Is More Than A Building

Construction of a church in the Amazon region is not an easy task. In many regions, construction supplies need to be purchased in cities and taken by boat to the community, taking

Taylor Pfeiffer's Story

Would you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? I would say I am extroverted in my interactions but introverted in nature. What I mean is - I love people: getting to know them, talking with them, building friendships. But I NEED plenty of alone time to recharge and reset.

Here you'll find stories from the field, ministry updates, and missionary testimonies that reveal how God is at work throughout the Amazon.

Read inspiring accounts of transformed lives, growing churches, emerging indigenous leaders, and faithful partners whose prayers, generosity, and service make this ministry possible.

Each story is a glimpse of God's faithfulness and the lasting impact of the gospel in communities across the Amazon.

Meet A Missionary: Rocildo

There is a vast difference between simply drifting through life and living with a deep, enduring purpose. For one local leader on the Aicurapá River, that turning point came when he traded a life of wandering for a life of profound service.

One Changed Life. A Growing Network of Churches.

He stayed for three months to help one friend learn to follow Jesus. What began in that home grew into a story of new leaders and churches reaching other communities.

He Once Hid from the Gospel. Then Everything Changed.

He once hid in his bedroom whenever a pastor visited his family. Today, he serves an Amazon river community alongside his wife and daughters, helping others come to know Jesus.

Why Indigenous Leaders Matter

Long-term ministry requires trust, relationships, discipleship, and leaders who can continue the work after an outside team leaves. That is why Amazon Vida has spent years investing in local and indigenous leaders.
